Today, June 25, 2018, at our daily assembly there was a public speaker, Brian Wyman, who talked about three key points with the Boys Staters: Choices, consequences, and character. Brian relayed to us the legacy of his son, a member of the marine corps and a New York Sheriff Deputy, Kurt Wyman. Kurt Wyman gave his life in the line of duty while investigating a domestic dispute. What followed Officer Wyman’s investigation of the situation was a six hour standoff. When Kurt Wyman gave his life, he had left behind him a legacy of courage and character. His father wanted everyone to know the gravity of his son’s choices and the legacy he’d leave behind him, and hoped the members of Boys’ State would make choices that would leave behind a legacy of character and courage.
