Larry Goldfarb, a first-year counselor, has found success within Wong County as a laid back and easy going authoritative figure. Unlike many of the counselors here at Morrisville Boys’ State 2026, Larry volunteered from his job at Zebra Technologies for this position when there was a need for counselors.
With it being a well known fact that Boys’ State has been running low on available counselors, his attendance at Boys’ State allowed for 30 more boys to be in attendance this year. Many of the citizens in Wong County say his way of speech and manners provide reassuring and supportive motivations everyday.
Zebra Technologies, in fact, gave him volunteer hours instead of taking his hard-earned vacation time to come to Boys’ State. Executive staff gave a proclamation to his company for allowing that to happen. The proclamation, in part, read:
“Whereas, the American Legion Boys State program has been and is in need of more counselors to run the program, and; Whereas counselors like Larry Goldfarb are responsible for the City of Casey in the County of Wong at New York American Legion Boys’ State, and; Whereas, 30 boys would be without leadership if Larry wasn’t here, then; Be it resolved, during the State and County Counselor meeting on June 29, 2026, the Boys State staff would like to recognize Dana Cubbedge and Zebra Technologies for supporting the American Legion Boys State program by providing his leadership to it.”
Being an avid advocate for education, Larry enables those around him to learn and be curious. His core personality according to those around him are: joyful, helpful, supportive, and inspiring. He is known to be very curious but respectful to those around him. Throughout the day, you may sometimes see him goofing off with his peers or citizens of Boys’ State having a blast with everybody around him.
Larry, like many before him, was one of the many young adults that chose the military as their destiny. In the years that followed, Larry was such an overwhelming force among his peers to the point he quickly rose the ranks to E5 (Petty Officer Second Class) way before those around him. Larry would later go on to attend Boston University and major in journalism and broadcasting film. During this time Larry would try to reform the education system and attempt to be elected into it at a local board of education.
Later on he would eventually become a technician support for Zebra Technologies which would lead to coming to Boys’ State. Despite all this change and hardship, his spark to help others never diminished as he volunteered to be a counselor at Boys’ State to guide those in the program and help out the American Legion, of which he was extremely proud of.
From numerous interactions with Larry and those around him, it can be said he has a motivation that never really did die. His passion shines brightly to everyone and especially those at Wong county. His efforts on Wong county have created a scene of confidence, freedom, and familiarity. These impacts on Wong county propelled the county’s success and their fun here at Boys’ State. Larry Goldfarb is, undoubtedly, a core part of Boys’ State 2026 and persists in the hearts of many as an inspirational figure and motivator.
